Technology & Social Change Group, University of Washington
The Technology & Social Change Group (TASCHA) at the University of Washington Information School explores the design, use, and effects of information and communication technologies in communities facing social and economic challenges. Active in over 40 countries, TASCHA brings together a multidisciplinary network of social scientists, engineers, and development practitioners to conduct research, advance knowledge, create resources, and improve policy and program design. Our purpose? To spark innovation and create more opportunities for those who need it most. TASCHA provides overall leadership and coordination of the research design and implementation of the project.
Annenberg School of Communication, University of Southern California
The Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California was founded in 1971 with generous support from Ambassador Walter H. Annenberg. Its strategic location in Los Angeles at USC enables it to foster dynamic synergies and multidisciplinary approaches to the study of communication and journalism through unparalleled access to the nation’s and the world’s entertainment, media and technology industries.
Professor Francois Bar, Associate Professor at the Annenberg School of Communication, is the incumbent Chair of the Research Working Group. Professor Bar will provide intellectual leadership over the research design development process, in consultation with other members of the Research Working Group, the University of Washington Group, and with input from the leaders of the country research teams.
BRAC
BRAC is the largest non-governmental organization in Bangladesh and traditionally works on multifaceted development interventions, to bring about positive changes in the quality of life of the poor people of Bangladesh. BRAC Research and Evaluation Division will participate in the project as one of the research implementation partners in Bangladesh, forming a core member of the in-country research team in Bangladesh.
Development Research Network (D.Net)
The Development Research Network (D.Net) is a non-profit think-tank organization which envisages to use information and communication technology (ICT) for economic development of Bangladesh. D.Net will provide leadership and administrative management over the research design development and implementation in Bangladesh.
Instituto de Informatica Educativa, Universidad de la Frontera
The Information Education Institute (IIE) at Universidad de la Frontera in Temuco, Chile is a leading research institution which has carried out a number of action-oriented research activities surrounding the use of ICT in community-based telecentres, libraries, and schools. IIE will lead and manage the overall research design development and execution in Chile.
Society for Information & Development
The Society for Information & Development (S4ID) is Lithuanian consulting firm working with programs and projects directly related to knowledge society development, information technology services and information policy within the scope of European Union Financial instruments, project and program development, management and monitoring. S4ID will provide overall management and administration of the research project in Lithuania.
The University of Manchester
Professor Richard Heeks at the Institute for Development Policy & Management of the University of Machester has contributed a review of a comprehensive series of ICT for development impact assessment frameworks for this project.
